(Worthy News) - A Christian couple and their 17-year-old daughter were murdered by suspected Fulani jihadists during a machete attack last week in Nigeria’s Benue state, the Barnabas Fund reports.
In the November 29 attack, Clement Ukertor, his wife, Christiana, and their 17-year-old daughter, Dooyum, were butchered with machetes on their farm in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, Barnabas said.
In addition to killing the three family members, the Islamists severely wounded the couple’s older daughter Blessing, who is fighting for her life in hospital, Barnabas said.
In a statement about the attack, the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Project Monitoring, Frank Utoo, “Blessing, who was also in the farm, was lucky to have survived with deep machete cuts all over her body. She is hospitalized and is yet to find out that her dad, mom, and sister are all dead due to yesterday’s attack on their farms.”
Requesting prayer in its report on the attack, the Barnabas Fund said: “Pray that Blessing makes a full physical and spiritual recovery from her wounds and the trauma of the attack. Ask that she is comforted knowing that her parents and younger sister have received the gift of eternal life.”
As thousands of Nigerian Christians continue to be murdered by jihadists every year, the US Commission of International Religious Freedom has described Nigeria as a “killing field for Christians.”
