(Worthy News) - An American Pastor arrested in India at the beginning of October may be released, though attorneys representing him say the Indian government has committed an "injustice" against the leader of IHOP in Shelbyville, TN.
Bryan Nerren was stopped on Oct. 5 and taken into custody after officials questioned him about funds he said were devoted to a Christian conference.
They "specifically asked if Pastor Nerren was a Christian and if the funds would be used to support Christian causes," explained the American Center for Law and Justice representing the pastor, who has been a Christian worker in Nepal and India for 17 years.
Soon after Nerren was jailed and prevented contact with his family or his attorney, leaving his wife to take care of their special-needs daughter alone.
India under Narendra Modi has risen to the number 10 fiercest persecutor of Christians worldwide, according to the World Watch List published annually by Open Doors USA.
