(Worthy News) - Muslim Fulani herdsmen have killed more than 60 Christians in the last month in Nigeria, confirming a warning in January by a major Christian watchdog group that genocide was looming.

At least 13 of those Christians were killed in Plateau State last week, and the most recent attack on Wednesday, April 1st saw two dozen houses burned and seven Christians killed in Hukke village.

“Those killed in Hukke village are mostly elderly Christians who were unable to escape as members of the community ran into surrounding bushes during the attack,” area resident Patience Moses told Morning Star News.

Christian Solidarity International (CSI) warned in January of “a rising tide of violence directed against Nigerian Christians and others classified as ‘infidels’ by Islamist militants in the country’s north and middle belt regions.”

Over a thousand Christians have been killed in Nigeria by Boko Haram and Muslim Fulani herdsmen in the last year and 6,000 Christians have been killed since 2015, according to conservative estimates offered by John Eibner of CSI.
