(Worthy News) - Christians in China are sharing their faith by risking death to give out protective facemasks to the citizens of Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak that has killed over 900 people so far and of which there are now more than 40,000 confirmed cases.

Earlier in the crisis an anonymous pastor from Wuhan penned a letter calling on Christians to "suffer with the people of this city...to pray for those in this city who are fearful, and to bring them the peace of Christ."

“They're very courageous,” CBN News Asia Correspondent Lucille Talusan said of the Wuhan believers. “They give out masks and they say that they are Christians and they share the love of Christ and point to Jesus to bring hope to them and their families and the whole of China. ... This is really a break-through.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday pledged $100 million from the US to help China and other centers of the virus combat its spread after the US shipped 17.8 tons of donated supplies there this past week.

China has shut down over 6,000 churches in the last few years as the communist government attempts to "sinicize" religion.
