(Worthy News) - Since 2016, Boko Haram's attacks against Christians in the northern region of Cameroon have sharply increased.
According to Barnabas Aid, although Boko Haram is based in Nigeria, the jihadist group often crosses the border into Cameroon as well as into Chad and Niger to carry out its jihad.
For example, in February two female suicide bombers killed 21 shoppers in a marketplace in the village of Mémé near Cameroon's border with Nigeria. The marketplace was frequently used to provide food and other basic needs for Christians displaced by Haram's sectarian violence. But though the Nigerian military has managed to release many of Haram's female hostages, some of them have been "radicalized" while in the custody of the Islamists.
As many as 2,000 women and children have been kidnapped by Boko Haram since 2012.
