(Worthy News) - Jihadists armed with axes and machetes killed at least 17 Christians in the Democratic Republic of (the) Congo on May 3 causing thousands to flee their village.
According to Barnabas Aid, the attack on a village in North Kivu province was apparently the work of the Allied Democratic Forces -- an Islamist group that originated out of Uganda.
ADF had established a base of operations in the eastern Congo after the Ugandan army forced them out of the country more than a decade ago. Yet despite its dislocation, ADF has been responsible for the deaths of more than 500 people in the region since 2014.
Known to have forced Christians to convert to Islam, ADF is believed to have links with Somalia's al-Shabaab, Nigeria's Boko Haram, and al-Qaida.
