(Worthy News) - Continuing a campaign of slaughter and horror against Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), terrorists affiliated with Islamic State murdered three Christians and kidnapped others during an attack on their village near Mamove on July 16, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.
Originally based in Uganda, the rebel Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) also operate in neighboring DRC, carrying out relentless attacks on Congolese Christians in their efforts to establish an Islamic Caliphate.
The ADF attacks have caused a massive influx of displaced people fleeing their villages to Beni, Butembo, and Kasindi, leading to an unsustainable influx of displaced people in camps, ICC said.
Concerning the July 16 attack, a local survivor told ICC: “We did not realize that they had invaded our village until they landed on us in the house and started slaughtering people while speaking some Islamic words. That is the moment I realized there was danger. I ran passing through the behind door of our house to the bush, and this is how I managed to survive these killings.”
In a statement, the Bishop of the Anglican Church of Beni asked the Congolese Armed Forces to step up their efforts to protect civilians from the ongoing terrorism. “As we are praying to God to bring this to an end, we also urge the government security organs to step up surveillance in these volatile zones to protect its citizens from the incessant attacks coming from the ADF Islamic group,” he said.
