CAIRO, EGYPT (Worthy News)-- Four South Korean Christians touring Egypt were killed and over 30 injured Sunday after a militant Islamist group exploded a bomb on their bus as it was about to cross into Israel, according to the Associated Press.
The Islamist group, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (ABM) claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. ABM is allegedly funded and supported by select individuals affiliated with Hamas, located in the Gaza strip. In a statement, ABM claimed one of its members detonated the bomb as part of its economic war "on the current regime."
The bus was filled with South Korean Christians who saved for years to visit the Middle East to commemorate their church's 60th anniversary when it was bombed. According to their itinerary, they were scheduled to visit Biblical sites throughout Turkey, Egypt, and Israel for 12 days.
"My mother was a devout Christian, I don't know how such a thing could happen. I don't know how to react to this,” a daughter of the one of the deceased told South Korea's Yonkap newspaper.
