Hindu Radicals Demand that Cross on School Uniform be Replaced with Hindu Logo

KARNATAKA, INDIA (ANS) -- Hindu Radicals stormed into a Christian School demanding that the Cross on the school uniform be replaced with a Hindu logo.

The incident occurred on Aug. 4 at Samuel Memorial Convent School in Mudhol, Balagkot District in Karnataka, India.

According to a story on www.persecution.in, between 50 and 60 Hindu radicals armed with flags and wooden batons broke open the school gate and menacingly entered the Principal’s office. They belonged to belonging to Rashtriya Swayam Sevaks (RSS) and the Bajarag Dal (Monkey Brigade)

The story reported that in addition to demanding the school replace the cross symbol with a Hindu logo, the radicals also demanded Hindu idols be installed inside the school.

According to the story, the radicals also informed the school that if their demands were not met, then there would be serious attacks made on the school and the principal.

The website reported that the school’s founder is Mrs. Margaret. Her husband died in an accident in 2001. Margaret was left with two children, and her husband’s then unfulfilled dream to establish a school for the children of Mudhol. As a result, Mrs. Margaret founded the school in 2005 and named it after her husband.
