(Worthy News) - A Christian man who was imprisoned in Indonesia for alleged blasphemy, has been beaten and tortured by a former police officer and other prisoners at his jail, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.
A former Muslim, Christian convert Muhammad Kace was arrested in Bali in August after posting on Youtube a sermon that allegedly insulted Islam, ICC said. Kace has been able to report that he was brutally beaten and tortured by several prisoners, including a former policeman known as Napoleon Bonapart who is currently in jail for bribery.
Andi Rian Djadji, the national police director of general crimes, has said Bonaparte admitted to attacking Kace, ICC reports. “He and several other perpetrators beat Kace. They also covered his face and body with human feces,” Djadji said in a statement.
Bonaparte, who had once been an Inspector General, published an open letter stating he had attacked Kace to defend his faith as a Muslim.
“Anyone can insult me, but not against my Allah, the Quran, the Prophet, and my Islamic faith,” he said. “Therefore, I swear I will take any measured action against anyone who dares to do so.”
Indonesia ranks 47 on the US Open Doors Watch List 2021 of top countries where Christians are persecuted.
