ABUJA (Worthy News)-- Muslim Fulani herdsmen have attacked villages in Nigeria's Benue state Sunday, killing five Christians, according to Morning Star News.
Herdsmen from a border town in Nasarawa state along with mercenaries from Chad and Niger destroyed homes and churches in the mostly Catholic Agatu Area, causing hundreds to flee. The attacks took place while Christian farmers and their families were at worship services.
The Islamist herdsmen and their mercenary allies have killed and maimed Christian villagers for months.
"Life has become unbearable for Christians, as thousands of our members have been displaced in the past one year of intense attacks by Fulani gunmen and Muslim Islamists," said The Rt. Rev. Michael Apochi.
Christians make up 51 percent of Nigeria's 158.2 million, while Muslims account for 45 percent.
