(Worthy News) - As the sustained slaughter of Christians in Nigeria continues unabated, Fulani herdsmen and local Islamists hacked and burned to death 40 Christians in attacks in and near Jos, Nigeria on August 25 and August 15, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

In its annual report this year, the US Commission on Religious Freedom said Nigeria is become a “killing field” for Christians and warned of genocide.

Now the fourth most dangerous terror group in the world, Nigerian jihadist Fulani herdsmen attacked the predominantly Christian community of Yelwa Zangam, Jos North County on the night of August 25, MSN reports. The murderers first slaughtered 16 Christians with guns and machetes and then burned to death beyond recognition 17 other Christians in their homes. Twelve children were among the dead, including 5-year-old Goodness Bala, and many women, including 90-year old Dashe Daniel Ganga.

Yelwa Zangam resident Bitrus Pada told MSN: “Those of us who survived this attack need an urgent supply of food items and temporary shelter, as most of our possessions were burned and looted by the herdsmen.”

Seven Christians were murdered in a similar attack on August 15: three students were among those killed. “(Radical) Islamists killed my niece while she was coming back from church! Let her blood speak!” Godwin Tengong, the uncle of one of the slain students, Bitrus Danboyi, told MSN.

Rev. Polycarp Lubo, chairman of the Plateau State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said in a statement to MSN: “We are tired of telling Christians to calm down, take it easy, pray. Christians will be in their houses and still get killed while sleeping.”
