(Worthy News) - Terrorists are demanding a ransom of N50million ($122,000) for the release of eight Christian evangelists they abducted in Nigeria’s Kaduna state on Friday, International Christian Concern reports.
The eight missionaries from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) were on their way to evangelize in Kafachan in southern Kaduna, when gunmen intercepted their bus and took them off into the bush, ICC reports.
In a Facebook post about the attack, eyewitness Eje Kenny Faraday said: “All passengers in the bus are just kidnapped along Kachia Road, Km 63 from Kaduna.” A photo of the empty bus showed its inscription: “The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 30, Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna,” ICC said. Faraday was reportedly nearly kidnapped himself.
Kaduna State Police are understood to be investigating the attack, and International Christian Concern said it is monitoring the situation.
ICC has called for prayer in the meantime: “Please pray for our brothers and sisters who have been kidnapped, that the Lord will strengthen and protect them during this time of trial. Please also pray that the hearts of their kidnappers will be softened, and that they will be able to return safely to their families.”
