(Worthy News) - Three more Christians were murdered in Nigeria this month during an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants in majority-Christian Chibok County, Borno state, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports. Tens of thousands of Christians in Nigeria have been murdered by Islamic terrorists since 2009.
The three Christians were killed on October 4 when ISWAP terrorists Islamic attacked Njilang village in Chibok County, ICC reports. The terrorists burned down six homes and five shops and wounded dozens of residents in addition to the murders.
Christians in Chibok County have been subjected to many terror attacks by ISWAP and Boko Haram jihadists wanting to annihilate Christianity and impose their version of Islamic extremist law across Nigeria In January this year, the Chibok Area Development Association reported that at least 407 Christians have been killed in 72 attacks since 2012 in the area by either Boko Haram or ISWAP militants.
“In the northeastern parts of Nigeria, ISWAP, alongside Boko Haram, has killed thousands of Nigerian citizens,” ICC said in its report. Moreover, murder is not the only horror afflicted on Christians by Islamic terrorists.
“The abduction of young Christian women and girls to become brides for the militants is commonplace,” ICC added. “Millions have been forced to flee their homes due to the violence.”
The Nigerian government has done next to nothing to rein in the persistent attacks, frequently downplaying a situation that rights groups warned is approaching Christian genocide. “The Nigerian government continues to deny any religious motivation behind these attacks,” ICC said. “However, evidence repeatedly shows that Islamic extremist groups Boko Haram and ISWAP are seeking to impose sharia (Islamic law) throughout the entirety of Nigeria.”
