(Worthy News) - Three more Christians have been killed by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists in northeast Nigeria’s Chibok region, Morning Star News (MSN) report. Nigeria ranked number one in the world last year for the number of Christians murdered on account of their faith.

Originally known as Boko Haram, the main threat to believers in Nigeria officially is a terror group that aligned with the Islamic State in 2012, and changed its name to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). The group’s aim is to impose Sharia Islamic law on the whole of Nigeria.

The Chibok (Kibaku) Area Development Association (KADA) has stated that at least 407 Christians have been killed in 72 attacks by Islamic terrorists in the region since 2012, MSN reports.

KADA national president Dauda Ndirpaya Iliya added during a press conference in Abuja that, in addition to 276 Chibok schoolgirls abducted in 2014, Islamic terrorists have kidnapped at least 332 Christians and destroyed more than 20 Christian churches.

“The parents and the communities not only in Chibok have continued to be subjected to persistent and sustained attacks, killings, abductions, maiming, arson and other myriads of criminality without adequate government protection,'' Iliya said.

Echoing the repeated claims of Nigerians in numerous states under fierce attack from Islamic terrorists, Iliya further attested: “Chibok has been for all intents and purposes abandoned to its own devices by all layers of government in Nigeria.”

Although to the outrage of rights groups, the US Biden administration last year removed Nigeria from its list of Countries of Particular Concern for violation of religious freedom, the nation ranks seven on the US Open Doors Watch List 2022 of top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
