(Worthy News) - The slaughter of Christians in Nigeria has seen no let-up as suspected Fulani herdsmen and other Islamic militant terrorists killed 12 mainly women, children, and elderly Christians during attacks in Benue state last month, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.
At around 11 pm on October 21, terrorists attacked Gidan Ityotyev village, murdering two members of the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST in Nigeria) and mutilating another. “A Christian woman by the name of Kwaghdoo Saaku was injured when the herdsmen cut off one of her breasts,” local community leader Ukpuu Abaa told MSN. “The herdsmen, during the invasion of our village, shot randomly at our people who were sleeping in their houses,” Abaa said.
On October 8, terrorists raided Keana County’s predominantly Christian village of Gidan Sule, killing 10 residents and displacing hundreds of others, Peter Ahemba, president of the Tiv Development Association, told MSN. Most of those who died were women, children, and elderly people who could not escape.
“Ten corpses of Christians killed during the attack on Gidan Sule community were recovered on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 9, by survivors in the community,” Ahemba said. “The attackers, who we strongly believe are herdsmen and terrorists, shot sporadically on Christians who were sleeping in their houses.”
Rights groups have raised the alarm of a Christian genocide: both Genocide Watch and the US Commission on Religious Freedom (USCRF) have described Nigeria as a “killing field for Christians.”
Nigeria ranked number one in the world last year for the number of Christians murdered by Islamic militants (4,650).
