(Worthy News) - Christians in Nigeria are continuing to be slaughtered by Islamic militants as the authorities appear unwilling or unable to do anything to stop the slaughter and the international community does nothing to hold the Nigerian government to account.
Over 50,000 Christians in Nigeria have been murdered by jihadists since 2015, according to the Open Doors international Christian aid and advocacy organization.
As reports continue to come in of Christians being murdered in multiple Nigerian states, last month 20 people were killed during a two-day attack in the Kokona LGA of Nasarawa State, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.
The Member representing the constituency at the House of Representatives, Gbefwi Jonathan Gaza confirmed the attacks in a statement: “Houses and property worth millions of naira belonging to the residents were also razed down during the attack which had commenced on Sunday night to Tuesday morning.”
In a separate statement, a community resident told ICC it took police two days to arrive at the scene of the Kokona LGA attacks: “We lost hope in the Nigerian Police,” the resident said. This community has been attacked several times and has never received any humanitarian assistance from the government, ICC reports.
A Christian activist asked International Christian Concern to publish his call for prayer in the wake of the attacks. “As I speak, there is a great need for humanitarian assistance to help the most affected victims get relief,” the activist said.
