(Worthy News) - The Global Passion Christian school in Pakistan was last week raided by armed men who demanded money and violently assaulted students and female staff, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.
Established in 2018, Global Passion School offers free education to Christian youth Punjab province, ICC said. The raid took place on Friday, carried out by fourteen men who demanded money. School officials were given two days to get the money together, or the men would return and kill them. Before they left, the men battered and abused students and teachers, and damaged vehicles in the parking lot, ICC reports.
In a video posted to social media, the principal of Global Passion School said: “Many of our religious and political leaders, while visiting other countries, say that minorities and Christians are safe in Pakistan. After what happened to us today, I will never say that. Our security guard can’t even walk now. Our community is threatened to keep silent.”
“A few among the neighboring Muslim community have always tried to stop us from praying. They literally demanded stopping the noise… We want to be treated equally. Please pray for us,” the principal added.
Only three of the fourteen men have been arrested, ICC said. Pakistan ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
