VIENTIANE (Worthy News)-- Local officials in Laos have arrested seven Christians for worshiping together on Sunday, according to Morning Star News.
Accompanied by security officials and police, the chief of Boukham village in Savannakhet Province arrested the Christians in the home of Pastor Sompong Supatto. As of press time, all seven Christians were still in detention at the government headquarters in Boukham village.
Local officials had recently issued a directive that Christians were no longer allowed to gather for worship even though they had been participating in corporate worship in Boukham village for years.
The population of Laos is predominantly Buddhist and animist with only 3.4 percent professing Christianity.
