Cuba protests: Christian leaders beaten, imprisoned in government crackdown; Call for Christians worldwide to pray; “Help us!”

Christian pastors are among at least 100 people who have been beaten and imprisoned by the Cuban government amid nationwide protests against systemic rights violations, the severe economic crisis, and the surge in COVID-19 cases, the Christian Post reports. Pleading for help from the international community, the wife of an imprisoned pastor has called on Christians worldwide to pray for Cubans suffering government violence.

Nigeria: Kaduna state closes 13 mostly Christian schools as abductions spiral

Amid a catastrophic situation of relentless kidnappings in Nigeria’s Kaduna state, the local Schools Quality Assurance Authority (SQAA) has ordered the closure of 13, mostly Christian, schools which it identified as being “vulnerable” to attacks by Islamic militants who abduct students, Christian Solidarity Worldwide reports. Following the kidnapping of 140 pupils from Bethel Baptist High School on July 5th, CSW said Kaduna has become an “epicenter for kidnapping.”

Nigeria “Christian killing field:” Pastor and 3-year old son murdered by Muslim Fulani militants

A church planter and his 3-year old son were murdered by Muslim Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria’s Niger state on May 21, International Christian Concern reports. Leviticus Makpa, 39, and his little boy Godsend are among the latest murder victims in a country which Gary L. Bauer of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom described in April as a “killing field” for Christians.

Nigeria is a “Killing Field” of Christians, US Commissioner warns of Genocide

Nigeria is a “killing field” of Christians, and is headed toward Christian genocide, Commissioner Gary L. Bauer says in the Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) 2021 annual report, ICC reported. Islamic militants are primarily responsible for killing 1,470 Christians in Nigeria in the first four months of this year alone.

The large-scale, years-long onslaught of killing and kidnapping of Christians in Nigeria by Muslim extremists continues unabated and under-reported: a further 1470 Christians were murdered, and 2200 abducted, by Islamic Jihadists in the first four months of 2021 alone, the Intersociety for Civil Liberty and Rule of Law has attested in a new report. This time last year, the Nigerian Voice reported that Islamic militants had butchered 32,000 Christians since 2009; that number is now much higher.
