(Worthy News) - A young Christian farm worker was killed in Pakistan by a Muslim landowner, who tortured the young man with farm equipment for rinsing himself after his day's work in a well and "polluting" it.
Saleem Masih, 22, was rinsing the dirt off himself in the farm's tube-well when farm owner Sher Dogar and a few other Muslims accosted him and began beating him, the man's father said.
“They cursed and abused Saleem for ‘polluting’ the water, calling him a ‘filthy Christian,’” Ghafoor Masih told Morning Star News. "They then dragged him to their cattle farm, where they chained his hands and feet and continued to torture him with sticks and rods."
According to the elder Masih, the men "also rolled a thick iron rod over his entire body, causing multiple fractures in his left arm and ribs," but police called to the scene refused to intervene or even allow the family at first to take their broken and battered son to the hospital.
“After much pleading, they allowed us to take Saleem while the police acted like spectators,” Masih said.
Saleem was overcome by his injuries after three days and died on February 28th.
Pakistan is fifth on Open Doors USA's World Watch List for a corrupt legal system that allows Muslims to arbitrarily accuse Christians of blasphemy on pain of death.
