(Worthy News) - 17 Chinese officials discussed revising religious texts last month to suit the needs of the Chinese Communist Party, even framing a new religion.
Headed by Wang Yang, a member of the political bureau of the communist party, the committee suggested "conducting a systematic study of the thoughts of various religions" so as to "gradually form...a religious ideological system with Chinese characteristics in line with the requirements of the times."
“In many ways, the Chinese government’s control, including censorship of the Bible and the Quran, has twisted the doctrines of these religious texts and thus the religions," said Amnesty International China researcher Patrick Poon. "There is simply no genuine religious freedom.”
The Daily Mail reported that China, along with creating a new syncretistic religion with elements drawn from all world sects, intends to rewrite both the Bible and the Quran.
