Vietnam: Pastors interrogated over false accusation they started COVID-19 outbreak

A pastoral couple and 11 members of their church have been interrogated by Vietnamese police officials in regard to false accusations that the Christians maliciously started a significant COVID-19 outbreak in Ho Chi Minh City in May, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. Local Christian leaders believe the interrogation and accusations are part of an effort to defame and shame Vietnamese evangelicals.

China government officials raid church, detain pastor and four congregants

In ongoing efforts to suppress Christianity in China, officials from the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on October 31 raided yet another church, detaining its pastor and four congregants, China Aid reports. China ranks 17 on the 2021 US Open Doors Watch List of top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.

India: Two pastors attacked by Hindu radicals

As persecution of Christians in India continues, Hindu radicals violently assaulted and threatened to kill two pastors in Chhattisgarh state earlier this month, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports. Chhattisgarh state has seen a spike in attacks on Christians following inciting hate speeches against believers made by Hindu nationalists at public rallies.

Nigeria: Islamic militants kill one, abduct 100 others from church; “please remain in fervent prayer”

Amid Nigeria’s intensifying extremist violence against Christians, Islamic militants carried out yet another atrocity on October 31, murdering a congregant and abducting over 100 others from a church in Kaduna state, the Catholic Herald reports. Islamists have murdered over 15,000 Christians in Nigeria since 2015: rights groups are warning of genocide.
