(Worthy News) - China is overhauling its state-run “Three-Self” churches to reflect the idolatry of its one-party state.

Bitter Winter reports that officially recognized churches in a county outside of Luoyang city are being forced by the government to replace plaques of the ten commandments with quotes from President Xi Jinping.

“The Communist Party’s ultimate goal is to ‘become God,’” an unnamed preacher from a state-sanctioned Three-Self church explained. “This is what the devil has always done.”

In June of last year Jinping’s government rolled out a new phase of its ‘sinicization’ campaign to reduce Christianity to a communist-friendly artifact of Chinese culture by introducing the “Four Requirements,” which mandate churches to raise the Chinese flag and sing the national anthem in services, inculcating congregants with nationalism and socialism or facing closure.

Last November a church in Luoning county, Henan Province was told by government officials to remove the first of the ten commandments, “you shall have no other gods before me,” because Xi Jinping found it especially distasteful.
